Bravo for Baker Mayfield

Yes, of course, I am happy that former Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield signed a huge contract, including a lot of guaranteed money, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Really, who in Browns Nation would not be happy over that?

He played well for the Bucs — actually, incredibly well — down the stretch last season, getting them turned around and into the NFC divisional playoff round before losing to the Detroit Lions.

And remember, Mayfield was, of course, the quarterback who in 2020 led the Browns into the playoffs for the first time in 18 years. They even got a wild card-round victory, administering a beatdown to the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road.

Here’s hoping that he takes the Bucs even further next year. He deserves to have good things happen to him. He’s a good guy, and a good player.

But that’s not the big story in Cleveland. It is what is going on with the Browns quarterbacks.

We’ll get to that the next time.
