Not a huge Winston fan

As of this writing, it appears the Browns are ready to sign free-agent quarterback Jameis Winston.

In fact, by the time you read this, it may well have already happened.

Also, as of this writing, I am about ready to get physically sick.

In fact, by the time you read this, I probably already have done so.

For the Browns to pick Jameis Winston over Joe Flacco as their backup quarterback to Deshaun Watson is so egregious that it is off the charts.

Flacco turns the team around last year and carries it into the playoffs on his back, and his reward for doing that is to get overlooked for Winston? Are you kidding me?

What has Jameis Winston ever done in the NFL?

How in the world do the Browns expect him to lead theminto the postseason if Watson goes down? There is no evidence of all that he can do that. There is no belief at all among anybody other than the ground deep anchors that he can do it.

The window of opportunity is open for this team to get into the playoffs and make a deep run, but it won’t stay open forever. And if the Browns think that Winston could be the guy, then we’re all in trouble.

Just because James Winston is the poor man’s version of Watson does not mean that he can play.  In fact, we’re still trying to figure out if Watson can play anymore.

If the Browns had picked Flacco, then you would know that they had someone who could come in and play if Watson got hurt or if he just couldn’t do the job. Winston is not going to be able to do that in any way, shape or form.

I don’t know what the Browns are thinking, but it’s not common sense.
