Former inside linebacker Dick “Bam-Bam” Ambrose, one of the hardest-hitting players in Browns history, and Sandusky High School product Thom Darden, the club’s career interceptions leader with 45, will be inducted into the Cleveland Browns Legends during Sunday’s home opener against the Baltimore Ravens at FirstEnergy Stadium.
Both players are well-deserving of this honor. Actually, Darden should have inducted a long, long time ago, but that’s another story for another time.
So, with these players in, who else is on the list of potential Legends enshrinees? As I see it, they are, in no particular order:
*Cornerback Erich Barnes
*Wide receiver Webster Slaughter
*Wide receiver Reggie Langhorne
*Wide receiver Dave Logan
*Kicker Matt Bahr
*Kicker Matt Stover
*Inside/middle linebacker Mike Johnson
*Safety Felix Wright
*Safety Ross Fichtner
*Cornerback Bernie Parrish
*Safety Mike Howell
*Outside linebacker Charlie Hall
*Tight end/outside linebacker Johnny Brewer
*Wide receiver Pete Brewster
*Right guard Lin Houston
*Defensive end George Young
*Right tackle Lou Rymkus
*Safety Don Paul
*Center John Morrow
And that doesn’t include the players from the expansion era. Though there aren’t many candidates, but there are some, such as, of course, Joe Thomas, Phil Dawson and Kevin Johnson. They may have to wait a while.
