WHAT’S ON THE MIND OF THE BIG GUY?

So what does Browns owner Jimmy Haslam think about his team?

What does he think about where it’s at now and how it gets to where he wants it to ultimately be, which is competing for, and winning, championships?

And what does he think about the people running the team for him, such as Executive Vice President of Football Operations Sashi Brown, Chief Strategy Officer Paul DePodesta and head coach Hue Jackson? Does he think they’re capable of getting the Browns to that level?

I think they are. I really do. I’ve thought that for a long time and have made that clear on any number of occasions, including several times recently.

But it doesn’t matter what I think.

Or what the beat writers covering the Browns think.

Or what the people on sports talk radio – the hosts, guests and callers – think.

Or what the people in TV sports think.

Or what the radio play-by-play voice of the Browns thinks, and I know he always has Haslam’s ear.

Or what the nice lay who lives next to you thinks.

Or what your significant other thinks.

Or what your crazy Uncle Eddie, who always seems to be thinking about sports, thinks.

Or what your little brother thinks, and he doesn’t seem to think about anything – anything important, that is.

Or what he college-age kid who works at the local convenient store/gas station thinks.

Or what your friends at work/and or school think.

Or what your therapist, mechanic, hair stylist and boss think.

Or what your pastor, priest or rabbi think.

Or – get this – even what your mom thinks, and that says it all.

With all due respect to every one of those people, it doesn’t matter at all – not one bit – what they think. It just doesn’t.

It matters only what Haslam thinks. He signs everyone’s check. The buck stops at his desk.

With that having been said, then, what does Jimmy Haslam think?

He hasn’t said recently – at least not publicly.

Should he?
