The Browns, who are 4–2 and in a three-way tie for first place with the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC North after finishing just 5-12 a year ago, aren’t the only team that has contributed to a wacky start for the NFL through six weeks.

In the rest of the AFC, quarterback Patrick Mahomes has returned to health after missing much of last season, and the Kansas City Chiefs are back at the top of the West Division if not the entire conference right now.
This was supposed to be the year that another West Division team, the Los Angeles Chargers, and their quarterback, Justin Herbert, got straightened around and became a legitimate contender in the AFC. But in being one of the league’s two winless teams, the only thing the 0-6 Chargers are vying for is the No. 1 overall pick in the 2027 NFL Draft next spring. The player they select then could end up playing for a new head coach because Jim Harbaugh is squarely on the hot seat. He was brought there to build a winner, and all he has built is frustration and disappointment.
The club the Browns face on the road on Sunday, the Tennessee Titans, are struggling, too, at 1-5, but that’s hardly a surprise because they were forecasted to have a rough time.
And speaking of forecasts, the Los Angeles Rams were supposed to win the Super Bowl going away. They were the dream team after trading with the Browns to get future Pro Football defensive end Myles Garrett, which convinced future HOF defensive tackle Aaron Donald to come out of retirement so he could play alongside him. But Garrett hasn’t played yet this season because of a knee injury, and that is one of the reasons why the Rams are tied for the last place in the NFC West at 2–4. They might end up playing the Chargers at the end of the regular season in the Los Angeles Booby Bowl.
The defending Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks, who are also in that division, are 3–3 and the favorite to capture the runner-up prize for the biggest disappointment in the league.
