What a horrible game Sunday in the Meadowlands between the Browns and New York Jets.

Yes, it was horrible in that Browns played so poorly, particularly offensively and on special teams, en route to blowing a late lead and losing 17-12.
It was horrible to watch because of a torrential rain that fell throughout the game. The teams weren’t playing football but rather something resembling water polo.
It was a bad advertisement for the NFL. Check that, it was a miserable advertisement for the league.
What it was a good advertisement for, though, was the fact that Browns owner Jimmy Haslam is building a dome near Hopkins Airport. It is scheduled to open in time for the 2029 season. If it could be built faster than that, then all the better. Nobody wants to sit in a rainstorm and watch anything, even football. You can criticize Haslam
for a lot of things, and we can debate back-and-forth on them, but you can’t criticize him for building a dome. It has been sorely needed for decades. Yes, we get rainstorms and snowstorms and icestorms and all kinds of storms on the shores of Lake Erie in Cleveland.
To be sure, the only thing that would’ve been worse about Sunday’s game would’ve been if it had been played in Cleveland. Then it would’ve been Browns fans getting soaked to the bone.
