THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH — TODAY

The circus is in town.

And what better place for that to happen than Los Angeles, which, with Hollywood right next door and Disneyland just down the road, has a lot of unique characters who cause everyone to stop and stare.

That’s one way to look at Sunday’s game between the visiting Browns and Los Angeles Chargers.

The Chargers aren’t really a circus. But they’re nonetheless putting on a real show, having improved to 5-6 to climb right back into the thick of the AFC playoff picture.

But the Browns? If they weren’t a circus before with their 0-11 record this season and 1-26 mark over the last two years, they are now with the fact that wide receiver Josh Gordon will be in the starting lineup for the first time in several years.

This is the same Josh Gordon who, when, on the field, has been nothing short of spectacular. When he last played to any great degree, in 2013, he set a Browns record and led the NFL with 1,646 receiving yards on 87 catches, nine of which were for touchdowns. It’s the best season for a pass-catcher in Browns history, which is saying a whole heckuva lot considering that wideouts Paul Warfield and Dante Lavelli and tight end Ozzie Newsome are all enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

This is the same Josh Gordon who has been suspended so many times in his career with substance abuse-related issues that you can’t even remember them all.

And this is the same Josh Gordon who, just like the circus, may be around only a short time before having to leave yet again. His history tells us that – dramatically so.

With that having been said, then, enjoy the game.

Enjoy Gordon.

Enjoy what his presence means to the Browns and their offense.

Yes, enjoy it all – savor every bit of it – because it may be gone before you know it.
