The first-place Cleveland Browns.
All by themselves.
Let’s repeat that.
The first-place Cleveland Browns.
All by themselves.
In the AFC North.

They got there by being one great play better than the Pittsburgh Steelers (2-2), winning 27-24 in a game for the ages — even in this historic series — on Thursday Night Football on Andre Szmyt’s 56-yard field goal with just 10 seconds left into the toughest end of the field to kick in, in the NFL, the northeast end of Huntington Bank Field.
The Browns then intercepted an Aaron Rodgers pass with one second left to stave off any attempt by the Steelers to a long field goal of their own to tie it again

You want gritty? Well, you’ve come to the right place.
These young Browns were gritty, just as much so as the veteran, playoff-tested Steelers
After the Steelers rallied to tie the game at 24-24 on a touchdown, followed by a two-point conversion, with just under two minutes left, the Browns regrouped, drove the ball down the field and got Szmyt into position to blast one deep into the night. The kick would’ve been good from 70 yards.
The Browns proved to the nation that they belong. Say what you want, and do what you want, but this team isn’t going away anytime soon.
The Browns have beaten the Steelers five straight times in Cleveland and seven of the last eight times. Perhaps we should ask the Steelers about how tough these Browns are. The Steelers are tough, too, make no mistake about it. But the Browns matched them step for step, punch for punch and play for play. The Browns never blinked.
That kind of stuff goes a long way. It took the Browns all the way to first place, all by themselves, in the AFC North.
It’ll be a short night tonight, with not much time to sleep for any of us, but we’ll all have sweet dreams.
