Browns–Steelers 1st-Quarter Recap

Pittsburgh struck first, and Cleveland spent most of the opening quarter struggling to generate offensive momentum.

  • Steelers 7, Browns 0 late in the first quarter.
  • Aaron Rodgers: 6-of-8 passing for 60 yards and a touchdown.
  • Roman Wilson: caught a 12-yard TD pass from Rodgers to give Pittsburgh the lead.
  • Deshaun Watson: started efficiently but the Browns offense had only 28 passing yards early.
  • Pittsburgh’s defensive pressure was already showing up, including a sack of Rodgers on the opening-quarter stats.

BDD angle: Cleveland’s defense hasn’t been overwhelmed, but the Browns need the offense to find some rhythm. Pittsburgh has been more efficient on early downs, and Rodgers has been getting the ball out quickly. The Browns’ biggest priority entering the second quarter is sustaining a drive and keeping Pittsburgh from controlling the game with field position.

Browns Take 21-10 Lead Into Halftime Against Steelers

The Cleveland Browns have taken control of Thursday night’s matchup, carrying a 21-10 lead over the Pittsburgh Steelers into halftime.

After trailing 7-0 following the first quarter, Cleveland’s offense came alive in the second quarter and scored three touchdowns to seize the momentum.

The Browns have been much more effective moving the football, while Cleveland’s defense has continued to make Pittsburgh work for every possession.

The 21-10 halftime advantage gives the Browns a chance to build on their momentum coming out of the locker room.

Halftime: Browns 21, Steelers 10

Cleveland will have the opportunity to extend its lead in the third quarter. The biggest question coming out of halftime will be whether the Browns can continue the offensive rhythm that sparked their second-quarter comeback.

For now, the Browns have turned a 7-0 deficit into an 11-point halftime lead.
