The Browns got what they deserved, and also what benefits them the most, a combination that doesn’t happen much at all, as the NFL schedule was announced Thursday night.
They didn’t deserve many, if any at all, national opportunities, after winning just four games last year, and so they just got one this season, which is one more than I got last year, when they were coming off a three-win season. we are not talking about international games, which is an entirely different subject, but rather games played on American soil.
So, then, if you’re not playing in the national window, then you are playing a lot of games on Sunday at 1 o’clock, and that’s just exactly what has happened to the Browns. And that’s great. No, it isn’t great to be out of the primetime spotlight so much and being stuck with the garden variety start times early on Sunday afternoon, but this team is not ready for the national spotlight. . It needs to concentrate on getting better, which is easy to do when you’re playing in the least-desired spot of the day at 1 p.m. Sunday.
With that, then, the Browns benefited both ways in that they don’t play in primetime before they’re ready to do it, thus keeping themselves from getting embarrassed, and they also get a chance to play at their own level and work up to the stuff that is more grand.
Really, it could not have worked out better for the Browns. It may not seem like that now, but it’s truthfully the case. It will benefit the Browns greatly. Hopefully, they can take advantage of the fact and just work on improving, which is certainly, and desperately, what they need to do.
