It’s amazing what passes for common sense sometimes these days.
Browns head coach Hue Jackson is a little late for his postgame press conference following last Sunday’s 27-13 loss to the New York Giants and the big story is how much he is struggling emotionally with his team’s 0-12 season?
Really?!
Honestly?!
Are you serious?!
Duh!!!!!!
You mean a coach – a guy whose job it is to win games — would be upset about something as meaningless as a winless season?
That’s just common sense. How can you not see that?
Yikes!
The bigger story – the much bigger story, really – is that Jackson apologized to the media about being late to the presser.
No coach – anywhere, in any sport – ever apologizes to the media for anything, least of all for being late to a press conference, which all coaches everywhere – in all sports, even the nice guys like Romeo Crennel and Chris Palmer — hate attending almost as much as they hate losing games.
Eric Mangini, for instance, would just as soon have run over you with his car as look at you. He would have asked you to apologize for getting in his way.
Someone needs to tell Hue Jackson that.
Hmmm.
Perhaps I just did, for whatever that’s worth.
Maybe more than we realize in Jackson’s case, considering the kind of season his team is having.
