Yelp!! Browns do it again

Some might say, “This yelping has got to stop. It sounds hideous, like a little kid. Grow up.”

But I don’t want to stop yelping, and, in fact, I won’t. It’s a sign, for me, at least, of sudden and unexpected happiness and joy, and we all want to be happy, and joyous, right? The more yelps, the better.

CLE Gear!

I don’t want to grow up, either. Come on, I’m old enough as it is. How much more growing up do I have to do, or will have time to do?

What am I talking about?

Let me explain.

When I heard a while back that the Browns had re-signed defensive end Myles Garrett to a contract that may keep the future Pro Football Hall of Famer with the team for the remainder of his career, I yelped. I couldn’t believe it. I never thought it happen. Woohoo!

When I heard last week that the records of the teams that played in the All-America Football Conference from 1946-49, including those of the Browns, who dominated the league, were being absorbed into the NFL and become part of its official statistics, I yelped. I couldn’t believe it. I never thought it would happen. Wohoo!

And on Friday morning, when I heard that the Browns had signed quarterback Joe Flacco, returning him to the team the he led to the AFC playoffs into 2023, I yelped. I couldn’t believe it. I never thought it would happen. Woohoo!

Does all this tremendously good news in such a relatively short period of time, coming after weeks and even months of seemingly nothing but bad news, indicate that the football gods are now smiling upon the Browns and that they are finally starting to figure it out and get it right?

And along those same lines, does it mean that — maybe, just maybe — they will also, as owner Jimmy Haslam says, “nail it” in terms of what they do with their pick at No. 2 overall in the NFL Draft next Thursday?

We can only hope and, much more importantly, pray.

And if it indeed plays out like that, I won’t have to write about the fact I yelped once again because, no matter where you are, you’ll hear it.
