Would it matter if the AAFC stats were added?

The Browns don’t list in their official records any of the statistics — only the scores — from their four years in the All-America Football Conference from 1946–49.

As such, then, any of the numerous stars who played for the team in the AAFC days, have only their stats from the NFL to show for their official careers, according to Browns records.

That doesn’t seem fair. That doesn’t seem right. That doesn’t seem like an equitable way, or a factual and realistic way, to view those players’ careers.

So, what would happen if those AAFC stats were added to that of the players who then also played in the NFL after the Browns joined it in 1950? Would it make any real difference at all in the way those players, and their accomplishments, are viewed? Or would it be just an exercise in futility, relative busy work in which only history nerds will have any type of interest?

Let’s find out.

To be continued.
