Why, Jimmy? Five Questions That Cut to the Core of the Browns’ Dysfunction

What went on Monday at Browns headquarters in Berea in a big news day that was, in one sense, hardly unexpected, but, in another sense, incredibly disappointing, was a personal affront to Browns fans.

Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?

Here are five questions — there are many, many more, to be sure; I’m just skimming off the top — for Browns owner Jimmy Haslam, the man who orchestrated it all, right down to the last piece of nonsense:

1) Why would you fire one man in head coach Kevin Stefanski and not also the other in General Manager Andrew Berry? They were a matched set. You said so yourself, calling them “a team?”

2) Why would you retain Barry, who, in all of the NFL Drafts he conducted, had just one passing grade, in 2025?

3) Why would you want back the man who, in his complete lack of understanding of anything that has to do with the quarterback position, pulled off the worst trade in NFL history with his acquisition of Deshaun Watson?

4) Why would you hold onto the man who has failed to address, in any way, shape or form, the offensive line, the second-most important position in team sports behind only quarterback?

5) And finally, at least for now, why would you go forward with a man who, if he were on the open market, would not be pursued by any other team, and dismiss the man who, you will see, will get a lot of attention?

Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?
