I wish that what is going on at Ohio State would be going on with the Browns as well, and it isn’t.
Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day decides he’s going to give up his playcalling duties on offense, and he hires Bill O’Brien as his offensive coordinator because he feels he’s just the right guy to do it. It’s a good move by Day, because being a head coach is way too big of a job to also be the offensive coordinator and call plays.
But after three weeks, O’Brien gets the chance to go back home and become the head coach at Boston College, and he leaves to accept that position. Undaunted, Day turns right around and hires away UCLA head coach Chip Kelly to take O’Briens place.
Bill O’Brien. Chip Kelly.. When you talk about offense, those are two really special names. It gives Ohio State fans hope that this offense will be everything that it can be, especially with the quarterback.
Meanwhile, in Cleveland, it seems that Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski has to go off on some kind of sabbatical or something to figure out whether he is going to give up his playcalling duties. He has hired an offensive coordinator in Ken Dorsey, and he’s just not quite sure that he wants to give those duties to Dorsey.
So, while the Buckeyes work to push their offense forward, the Browns are stuck in the mud, trying to figure out who’s going to call the plays when, in fact, it should be the offensive coordinator and not Stefanski, because, as mentioned, being the head coach is a big deal and you can’t do too much of anything else other than to handle that position.
It’s mind-blowing how the Browns just don’t get it, and that especially goes for Stefanski.
