WHO WANTS TO GRAB THE AFC NORTH TITLE?
Did you see the Pittsburgh Steelers’ game against the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday night?
Did you see the Baltimore Ravens’ game against the Steelers last Sunday?
Did you see the Cincinnati Bengals’ game against the Los Angeles Chargers last Sunday?
And did you see — well, geez, of course you saw — the Browns’ game against the Ravens two Sunday nights ago?
The Steelers looked like the 1969 Steelers — who went 1-13 — in the first half against Minnesota. They couldn’t do anything right. But they looked like the 1979 Steelers — who won the franchise’s fourth Super Bowl title in six years — in the second half, rallying to make a game of it and taking it right down to the final play before losing.
The Ravens were expected to beat the Steelers, and without too much trouble, really. They seemed to have the game in hand until they didn’t, losing by a point when they couldn’t make a play at the end.
The Bengals fell behind the Chargers by a bunch right away, caught up and then fell behind a bunch again in losing by 19 points.
The Browns intercepted Ravens Lamar Jackson quarterback four times — four times, for goodness sake, as in one more than three and one less by five. Usually, getting four picks is a ticket to winning, but the Browns didn’t win at all, instead losing by six.
Why all this? Simply to point out that the AFC North title is totally and completely up for grabs as we get into the home stretch of the season.
Are you listening, Browns, as you get ready to face the Ravens in a rematch on Sunday at FirstEnergy?
Let’s hope so.
