So, who in the world was that guy being interviewed in the booth by the Browns announcing team during the telecast of Saturday’s 19-17 win over the Los Angeles Rams at Huntington Bank Field in the preseason finale?
He was identified as Andrew Berry, the general manager of the Browns. But it didn’t seem possible.
He was smiling, even laughing and joking. He was open and seemingly honest. He was also extensive in his comments. He didn’t give away any secrets, and no one expected him to, but he said what he could to try to answer the questions fully and completely.
It was pleasant to listen to, and informative. You felt like he was doing his best to be cooperative.
Gone was the haughty attitude of his press conferences.
And the limited responses that say nothing, most times ignoring answering the direct question being asked.
And the tediousness, uncomfortable nature — frustratingly so — of the whole process.
So, if Berry can be — dare I say — charming on TV, why does he have to be so disengaged with and — dare I say — disrespectful to the media? Does he not realize that in both venues, he is speaking to the same audience, the fans?
Arghhhh!
Indeed, will the real Andrew Berry please stand up?
