What about Jacoby Brissett?
Yes, what about Browns quarterback Jacoby Brissett?
Y’all know what I’m leading to, and talking about, because y’all have been leading to it, and talking about it, too.
I’ve written this story before – it was several weeks ago, or perhaps a bit more, but it doesn’t really matter – and I’m writing it again now.
What if Brissett, who has had a big, big hand – literally as well as figuratively – in getting the Browns to 2-1, and an eyelash from being 3-0, has the team at, say, 7-4 or even 8-3, when The Guy, Deshaun Watson, is set to return and take over the starting job? Would that transition actually happen, still happen? Would the Browns’ deep thinkers, such as head coach Kevin Stefanski, rip apart a winning combination so that The 230 Million Dollar Man, who would not have played in a game that counts in two years and absolutely would have to be a touch rusty if not greatly so, can begin paying dividends?
It’s something to ponder. It really, truly is.
This is not about playing certain players just because they cost a lot. This is about winning games, no matter who’s playing or what the final scores are.
And if the Browns have a good record after 11 games – if they’ve got a lot of victories – then they would be in the thick of the AFC playoff hunt/ They might even be atop the AFC North, like they are right now at 3-1 heading into Sunday’s action.
What would the Browns do?
What would y’all do?
It sure would be interesting – and a heckuva lot of fun – to find out.
