Full disclosure here, but I’m not the businessman that Jimmy Haslam is.

In fact, that bar is set pretty low in that regard because I’m not a businessman at all. And Haslam, of course, pulled a struggling Pilot Flying J out of the dregs and turned it into a Super Bowl-worthy operation. So the guy knows a little something about business.

But, I have to wonder what in the name of questionable judgment is he doing with the business he still owns, the Browns? It can’t be consistent with other big decisions he made with his truck stop convenience store company.

Browns General Manager Andrew Berry and head coach Kevin Stefanski proved beyond any shadow of a doubt that they know nothing — absolutely nothing — about the quarterback position with their historic bungling of the Deshaun Watson situation. It is so bad that it makes the Browns’ trade of Paul Warfield to the Miami Dolphins to put themselves into position to take Purdue quarterback Mike Phipps at No. 3 overall in the NFL Draft 55 years ago, in 1970, look like an act of genius.

And that was an unmitigated disaster.

Yet, despite that, Haslam not only failed to fire Berry and Stefanski, but he has also put them in charge of finding the team’s quarterback in this year’s draft.

Huh?!

Really?!

And, Mr. Haslam, what would make you think they could reverse their earlier buffoonery and find the next Bernie Kosar or Brian this  time?

The people who came up with the brainstorms to create New Coke and the Edsel, and to trade Babe Ruth from the Boston Red Sox to the New York Yankees, were not named Employee of the Year by their businesses.

Just sayin’.

And if this “trust” blows up in your face again, Mr. Haslam, you will have only yourself to blame.

It’s the definition of insanity, sir, and I know you’re not, but you’re making it hard on yourself to deny it.
