What could of been, should have been

The Browns blew it.

They really, really blew it.

As bad and as frustrating and as disappointing and as disgusting and as miserable as this forgettable season was, the Browns still had a tremendous chance to be in the AFC playoffs picture with only two games to play.

They could have been 7-8 with very winnable road games left against the Washington Commanders (7-7-1) on Sunday and the AFC North rival Pittsburgh Steelers on Jan. 8. The Steelers are 7-8, but they face the Baltimore Ravens this weekend so they will likely be 7-9 when they play the Browns.

The Browns could well be 8-8 after beating Washington, and by virtue of beating the Steelers in the teams’ first meeting in Cleveland, they would be ahead of them by a game.

All they had to do was beat a terrible New Orleans Saints team last Saturday at frigid FirstEnergy Stadium. They muscled their way to a 10-0 lead late in the first half and then did nothing after that, losing 17-10 to a dome team from the Deep South.

Really?

Really?!

The 6-9 Browns are now officially eliminated from the postseason.

So, with all that having been said, then, there is nothing — absolutely nothing — to be gained by playing these last two games.

And if you say there’s still the continued development of quarterback Deshaun Watson, I’m going to get sick to my stomach.

Come on, you don’t buy that silly line of junk, do you?

Well, do you?!
