What are the Browns’ chances of winning the Super Bowl in 2023?

This year’s Super Bowl reminded us all that the likely favorites don’t always win. Neither the Rams nor the Bengals had looked like legitimate Super Bowl contenders for most of the season. Well, now we’ve all been reminded that looks can certainly be deceiving.

The Browns have never won a Super Bowl, they’ve never even played in one. There’s no getting around this fact. They’ve simply never been able to clear that last hurdle to success. And that always seems to be the story for the team, they just can’t quite get there.

Are the Browns going to be a safe bet for the 2023 Super Bowl? Probably not. Do they have a chance of finally winning the Vince Lombardi Trophy after all these years? If this year’s winners are anything to go by, that answer could be a yes.

If you’re new to sports betting — as most of us are since the laws are still changing — this could be a good season to finally jump in and put some money on your team. Consulting a betting guide is a good place to start. A sports betting guide doesn’t just provide you with odds and links to sportsbooks. The World Sports Network’s NFL guide, for example, also provides you with updated news and insights into all the teams in the league and recaps of the big games.

Now, let’s talk about what the Brown’s chances are for winning the Super Bowl in 2023.

2021-22 season recap

The Browns finished this past season with an 8-9 record. It could have been worse, but it also obviously could have been much better. The team has an eye for young talent and was able to secure three talented young players in the draft. Denzel Ward, Greg Newsome II and Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah all had a positive impact on the season. After a few seasons honing their skills, they could all be powerhouses.

The main problem with the Browns seems to be that they just can’t play as a team. They are a dysfunctional team that struggles to consistently function as a unit. Even their most talented players, such as Nick Chubb and Jarvis Landry, make serious errors that call into question how capable the coaching staff are.

What this season as a whole shows is that it isn’t a question of talent. The Browns have plenty of very talented players. The real issue is consistency and an inability to capitalize on the potential that each player has. This could be a morale issue or a deeper issue with the coaching staff or style.

State of the team

The transfer season has just started and will close in April. So far, the biggest acquisition that the Browns have made is quarterback Deshaun Watson. Watson is a talented young quarterback who has been nominated for the Pro Bowl three times. His skills could be put to good use by the team.

On the other hand, Watson is unlikely to be able to inspire and lead his teammates. He missed the last season due to a number of lawsuits for sexual misconduct. Fans are already upset by the team’s decision to sign Watson and it could seriously damage morale to have him on the team.

The signing of Amari Cooper is much less controversial. The wide receiver has had one poor season, but the rest of his career has been very impressive. He has made 1,000 yds in almost every single one of his seasons. His talents will provide a serious boost for the Browns.

Mental game

Could the reason the Browns haven’t made it to the Super Bowl be in part that they don’t think they can make it? Athletes are known for trying to psych each other out before a game, but it’s also possible for athletes to psych themselves out.

Feeling like there’s a jinx or a curse on the team or even just assuming that breaking the 56-year dry spell is an impossibility can have an actual effect on how a team plays. Being able to overcome this mental hurdle, if it is a part of the problem, will be necessary if the Browns want to win the Super Bowl next year.

In the end, the Browns are unlikely to win the Super Bowl in 2023. It’s not impossible and there’s always hope, but it’s not the safest bet in the world. Fans can live in hope and who knows, this year it just might pay off.
