By being able recently to restructure the contracts of two of thrir highest-paid employees, guard Joel Bitonio and defensive rnd Myles Garrett, the Browns are now $35 million under the salary cap.

Even in the dizzying dollar figures of today’s NFL, that’s a whole heckuva lot of money, so much so, in fact, that the Browns are first in the league in cash under the cap.

Yay.

That bodes well for the future for the Browns , because, like you with your own finances, managing money is essential for any business, including a pro football team. Remember a guy named Art Modell?

But in having said that, I am old enough that the here and now is much more important than the future. It’s been a long time since 1964, which is when I was a boy.

I want the Browns to be first in winning, because, as superstar trader Gordon Gecco (Michael Douglas) so famously said in the movie “Wall Street” many years ago, that’s the only thing that really matters.
