TIME TO MOVE ON AND MOVE WAY UP

The season is over for the Browns.

Thankfully, mercifully, the season is over for the Browns.

The Browns titled their 1990 highlight video, “The Season from Hell.” The Browns were 3-13 that season.

So if the Browns were to do highlight videos for 2017, and for 2016, their two worst years in team history, what would they be called, “The Season From Below Hell I” and “The Season From Below Hell II”?

Perhaps.

The Browns can’t change history. No one can. So as miserable as it is, they have to live with the nightmare that was the 2017 season, just as they headed into 2017 having to live with the nightmare thsat was 2016 season.

What they have to do right now – at this very minute, this very instant – is to start making the necessary changes so as to be sure that these kinds of nightmares don’t happen again.

This stuff can’t continue. It just can’t.

This has to be the bottoming-out. If it gets worse than this … well, I can’t imagine that it can.

The Browns have become a natioinal laughingstock. Much more important than that, they have thoroughly embarrassed their fanbase – the best fanbase, by far (it isn’t even close), in pro sports. These people deserve so much better. After all, they fought to get this team back. The Browns would not exist today had it not been for their actions in about a four-month period from late 1995 through early 1996.

The way to change this is to get better players, most importantly at quarterback. Nothing chanhges until that happens. That quarterback has to have a great relationship with the head coach. The head coach has to have a great relationship with new General Manager John Dorsey. And Dorsey and the head coach have to both have a great relationship with Browns owner Jimmy Haslam.

All those things are what the great teams have. The Browns are without much of those things right now. It’s why they’re in the boat they’re in.

This time next year, the Browns need to have seven or eight wins. Really. Anything else will have been a failure.

The team’s total rebuilding effort will be in its third year in 2018. It’s time to win.

No excuses.
