Time for the playoffs, minus the Browns

Despite having enough playoff-worthy talent, the Browns underachieved and failed to qualify for the NFL postseason for the second straight year.

But we should not let that keep us from watching the playoffs, which begin this weekend with six games — three each in the AFC and NFC — in the wild-card round.

Here’s a quick look at the games, in chronological order, including predictions:

NFC — Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers — Saturday at 4:30 p.m. — The 49ers have the NFL’s best defense and an offense led by a red-hot third-string quarterback. Plus, the Seahawks aren’t nearly as good away from home. Prediction: 49ers 27, Seahawks 17.

AFC — Los Angeles Chargers at Jacksonville Jaguars — Saturday at 8:15 p.m. — The Jaguars are this year’s surprise team. They don’t think they can lose, especially at home. Prediction: Jaguars 23, Chargers 21.

AFC — Miami Dolphins at Buffalo Bills — Sunday at 1 p.m. — The warm-weather Dolphins caught a break with this early-afternoon start, but it won’t be enough to stay with a Bills team that has its rallying cry. Prediction: Bills 33, Dolphins 13.

NFC — New York Giants at Minnesota Vikings — Sunday at 4:30 p.m. — The Vikings aren’t great, despite their record, but neither are the Giants. Minnesota has more offense. Prediction: Vikings 31, Giants 20.

AFC — Baltimore Ravens at Cincinnati Bengals — Sunday at 8:30 p.m. — These two teams just played at Cincinnati, and there’s no reason to believe the results will be any different. Prediction: Bengals 34, Ravens 16.

NFC — Dallas Cowboys at Tampa Bay Buccaneers — Monday at 8:15 p.m. — It’s hard to feel good about either team, but I feel better — only barely — about Dallas. Prediction: Cowboys 26, Buccaneers 24.
