TIME FOR HUE TO GO BACK TO THE START(ER)

As we’ve said here before, only Hue Jackson knows what Hue Jackson will do in any situation.

That’s certainly the case with any NFL head coach, but it’s especially so with the guy in charge of the Browns. He always seems to have a trick – or two or three – up his sleeve.

As such, then, you can only guess as to his intentions at quarterback for Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals at FirstEnergy Stadium. And the guess here – definitively so – is that possibly as soon as Wednesday, Jackson will name Robert Griffin III as the starter. Griffin has been out since suffering a shoulder injury in the opener at Philadelphia on Sept. 11.

The time is right, the way Jackson sees it.

Coaches split the 16-game regular season into four-game quarters to make it more manageable. At 0-12, the Browns are entering the fourth and final quarter.

They’re coming off their bye week, so they’re fresh and recharged – at least as much so as you can be at this point of the season. They obviously need a spark. As much as winning has never been the focus this season, they still don’t want to go winless. One means a whole lot more than none.

The defense is actually getting a little better, but the offense remains pathetic. Way back when, RG3 was the man Jackson picked to be his starter. Now that he’s healthy again, Jackson appears set to go back to RG3.

Plus RG3 said he wants to be the guy for the Browns not just for the rest of this season, but for a lot of seasons. You find out who you can count on when things are bleak, and the Browns – and Jackson – can count on RG3. That counts for something. Actually, it counts for a lot.

So, considering all that, what there’s to lose by playing RG3 – other than that unlucky 13th game?
