So, how did the 1980 Kardiac Kids do against Pittsburgh, and how does it compare to this year‘s Browns games against the Steelers?

That’s a great question to ask as the teams, tied for the AFC North league at 5–2, prepare to play Sunday at Pittsburgh in a rematch.
Overall, the two seasons 46 years apart are quite similar when it comes to Browns-Steelers.
About a month ago, on Oct. 1, at Huntington Bank Field, the Browns blew a two-touchdown lead and watched the Steelers tie it late the fourth quarter, then Cleveland won 27–24 on a 56-yard field goal into the Dawg Pound by Andre Szmyt as time expired. It put the Browns record at two over the .500 mark at 3-1.
In 1980, on Oct. 26, at Cleveland, the Browns erased a 12-point fourth-quarter deficit to win 27-26 on two Brian Sipe touchdown passes into the Dawg Pound, the latter of which being an 18-yarder to tight end Ozzie Newsome in the closing minutes. It raised their mark to two games over .500 at 5-3.
The Browns and Steelers played another dandy in 1980 in the rematch three weeks later at Pittsburgh. The Browns led 13–7 after three quarters on two Sipe scoring passes, including another one to Newsome, but the Steelers scored nine points in the fourth, including a three-yard touchdown pass from Terry Bradshaw to Lynn Swann with just seconds remaining, to get a 16–13 victory. The Browns played very well defensively, and did enough offensively, to win the game, but they just couldn’t finish it. The Browns hope to do better this time, as they look to sweep the Steelers during the regular season for the first time since 1988.
