The team that hosts the Browns on Sunday at what will forever be known to me as Heinz Field because the Heinz Co. is Pittsburgh, is the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Perhaps you’ve heard of them.
Anyway, the Steelers, who are 9-3 and leading the annual NFL disappointment that is the Baltimore Ravens (8-5) by 1 1/2 games in the AFC North, are riding the coattails of quarterback Russell Wilson. After being set out onto the curb on garbage day by both the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos (along with just about every other team in the league), he is enjoying a tremendous resurgence this season. The Pittsburgh coaches have carefully and skillfully created an offense in which he can thrive, and he has.
Great job, gentlemen.
As such, then, for all those people who say that the Browns’ Jameis Winston, another longtime veteran quarterback who has had his ups and downs, especially in Monday night’s 41–32 loss at Denver, is beyond repair, I say, “Baloney!!”
The Steelers did this without having any coach who is supposed to be a quarterback guru — a quarterback whisperer, as it were.
But the Browns do in head coach Kevin Stefanski. So get to work, man! Your job depends on it.
