These New Browns Do Not Care

There are some people who think the Browns — and their fans — should feel disrespected that the Baltimore Ravens — the original Browns franchise — will celebrate their 30th season when they host the current Browns franchise on Sunday.

And I get that. I’m not thrilled about it, either. I consider it a pompous slap in the face, like taking your new significant other to an event that you know you’re old significant other will also be attending.

Have some class, for crying out loud.

I know there are many others who share those sentiments.

But here’s the rub: those people in the current Browns franchise don’t care.

At all.

Not even in the least bit.

They never have. And they never will.

They just don’t give a hoot.

They are woefully misguided, ignorant and pompous when it comes to Browns history. They think they have nothing to do with the old franchise. They would get rid of the name, colors and records in a heartbeat if they could without there being a riot in Berea. They couldn’t name five players on that final team in 1995 before it moved to Baltimore the next season.

And the coaches? You know any of them.

Please!

“Wow, man, you mean Bill Belichick coached the Browns?! Now way?!”

Way.

So, then, go right ahead and have your ticked-off parties on Sunday. Just don’t expect these new people to come.
