The worst Special Teams Season in Team History

The worst this Browns season gets, the more I hate it — for a variety of reasons.

Take special teams coordinator Bubba Ventrone for instance. Yes, please take him away and don’t let him anywhere near the Browns, or Cleveland. His guys were responsible for last Sunday’s 27–20 loss to the New York Jets after giving up a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and then a 74-yard punt return for a touchdown in the span of 36 seconds.

Instead of taking any accountability for that, a big story this week with him was that he was “turning out all the noise.”

Are you kidding me?!

You have got to be kidding me!

He’s lucky he still has a job. Most guys would have gotten fired, but the Browns have lowered the bar so far that anything and everything goes. Sure, just hop on the dysfunction train.

That may have been — no, that definitely — was the worst special team performance in the nearly 80-year history of the Browns. You need to do a better job of coaching, and you need a better job of standing up like a man and saying that you understand why everyone is saying what they’re saying because your guys didn’t play well and you didn’t coach well.

When he made his weekly media appearance several days ago, he should’ve been grilled like a steak. Instead, he was allowed to go out there and act as if nothing happened. Yeah, something did happen, that you greatly embarrassed yourself and the team.

I can’t wait for this season to end.
