We know the one that sent defensive end Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles, Rams on Monday, and the one in 2022 that brought quarterback Deshaun Watson from the Houston Texans for three first-round picks in the NFL Draft.
But, in a list of the five biggest trades in Browns history, what are the other three, in no particular order
1) In the offseason of 1970, just before the NFL draft, the Browns, desperate to find a quarterback, traded Pro Foitball Hall of Fame wide receiver Paul Warfield to the Miami Dolphins for their No. 3 three overall pick, which they used to select Purdue quarterback Mike Phipps.
2) Right after the 1962 draft, Browns head coach Paul Brown, in an effort to get another big running back to place in the backfield next to Jim Brown, traded a much smaller back in Bobby Mitchell to the Washington to get the rights to Syracuse running back Ernie Davis, who the Redskins had selected No. 1 overall.
3) And just before the start of training camp in 1985, the Browns, in another situation where they were trying to get their franchise quarterback, traded their top selectionsin 1985 and ‘86 in the regular NFL Draft to Buffalo to get the Bills’ No. 1,overall selection in the 1985 NFL Supplemental Draft. The Browns used the pick to take Miami (Fla.) quarterback Bernie Kosar.
