The stadium plan and how it will

This is how this stadium stuff will work for the Browns as things move forward.

The Browns say they are first looking at renovations to FirstEnergy Stadium. That’s good, and they no doubt are doing that. It’s the way it should be.

But at the same time, and let’s be honest about this, the Browns know that they have to do this to get where they want to go, which is a brand-new domed stadium located in Downtown Cleveland. They can’t just come out and say at the outset they want a domed stadium. They would be going too fast by doing that. They would be blowing their cover. They would be revealing their plan and intentions before the appointed time.

They have to work in steps, and the first one is considering the updating of their present facility. They’ll work through that and then, when they sense the time is right, they will ever so gently start shifting the focus over to weighing the possibility of a new place.

It will take time for all of this to play out, but make no mistake about it, it will play out in this exact manner.
