The running back HUNT is over

Running back Kareem Hunt is back with the Browns, signing a one-year, $4 million contract on Wednesday.

And I absolutely, positively couldn’t be happier.

They never should let him go in the first place, allowing the Willoughby South High School product to walk away to try the free-agency market. Not smart at all.

I said it — emphatically — then, and I will say it — just as emphatically — now, that it left the Browns very short-handed in terms of proven, versatile running backs, and those worst fears were realized when it came up to bite them with Nick Chubb’s season-ending knee injury suffered in Monday night’s excruciatingly painful — in more ways than one —26-22 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Thank goodness that Hunt, who loved playing for the Browns — was still available. By signing Hunt, they saved giving up assets in a trade and got a plug-in player who already knows the system and will hit the ground running — literally and figuratively.

What’s not to like?

This could end up being a big, big move for the Browns, for I trust him a whole lot more than I do the newly-slotted starting running back, Jerome Hunt.

Just sayin’.
