The plot thickens

Now that the city of Cleveland has tried to block a Browns move to Brook Park to build a domed stadium, this whole situation — and controversy, let’s call it what it is — has gotten a whole lot bigger.

There will be plenty of back-and-forth now between Browns owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam
and Cleveland leaders. And what happens with all that, is that it pushes to the side what’s going on with the team on the field, as it continues to get ready for a season that could be extremely special?

A distraction? You bet! Ha, It’s a quarterback controversy on steroids, that’s how much of a bother this is to this football team.

And oh, by the way, there could be a quarterback controversy this season, too. If Watson struggles coming out of the gate, then there will be increasing pressure to go to one of the backups, either Dorian Thompson-Robinson, Jameis Winston or Tyler Huntley.

Wouldn’t it be something to have two controversies, one involving the stadium and the other involving the quarterbacks, raging at the very same time? It would be an unmitigated disaster, the llokes of which could destroy the Browns’ chances this year.

Stay tuned. How can you do anything else but that?
