The formula for defeat

The formula for defeat once again.

The Browns pile up a lot of good statistics and race out to quick leads.

Pretty good, huh?

Sure, at first glance, until you realize they don’t do much else right.

Such was the case again on Sunday before a sellout crowd at Ford Field in Detroit, as the Browns, after taking the opening kickoff and scoring a touchdown and then kicking a field goal at the start of the second quarter to go ahead 10-3, did little after that in losing 31-23 to the “host” Buffalo Bills in a game that wasn’t nearly as close as the final score might seem to indicate.

Missed tackles.

Penalties at the worst times.

The inability to stop the run up the middle.

Poor play calls on both sides of the ball.

Lousy organization on the sideline.

Being unable to make adjustments.

Stop me if you’ve heard this before with the Browns this season.

OK, OK, I hear you! I’m stopping.

It’s why the Browns have lost six of their last seven to fall to 3-8.

It’s pure misery for a fan base that deserves so much better.
