The Browns need an adult to own and run the team

This is how bad it’s gotten with people who should know better — that is, some of those in the media — than to blindly trust everything and anything the Browns’ top people say.
ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported about the time of the team’s trade for Deshaun Watson that someone in Browns Headquarters criticized Baker Mayfield by saying the club “needed an adult to be the quarterback.”
Browns co-owner Jimmy Haslam quickly spoke up and said ownership didn’t make that comment.
Was he telling the truth? Who knows? But what is known is that Mortensen is a savvy and reputable reporter with a lot of sources on every team, and as such he didn’t just make up the quote.
So, somebody of importance in that building said it. That’s obvious. That’s common sense.
As such, then, instead of someone — please, anyone at all — in the media pressing Haslam on the issue, especially in asking him if another person in the building said it — the case was just dropped. It was as if all the media members said, “OK, Mr. Haslan said it didn’t come from him or his wife, Dee, so he must be telling the truth and it was not said at all by anyone. We need to go on to something else.”
Are you kidding me?
Really?!
Thus, when Mayfield expresses frustration at the way the Browns handled the trade and his being thrust to the bottom of the roster, waiting to be traded, he’s also talking about the “adult” comment.
What we need to say instead is that the Browns need an adult owning and running the team.
An adult would never have hired little Joey Banner and Mike Lombrdi to be the president and general manager, respectively, in 2013. An adult would never have hired Mike Pettine and then Hue Jackson as head coach, following that up by hiring Freddie Kitchens for the job.. Ugh. An adult would have steered the way to much better decisions and much better records.
An adult would have never even considered doing any of those stupid, lamebrain things. let alone doing all of them.
An adult would have been an adult and seen all those people’s weaknesses and the fact they were totally incompetent and incapable of filling those roles.
I said it, Jimmy. Yeah, me over here. Start acting like an adult yourself, and your wife, too.
