Browns fans needed to sit down and let their hearts quit pounding after Sunday’s incredibly exciting 13-10 win over the Green Bay Packers at Huntington Bank Field.
Indeed, what a wild, crazy and, as it turned out, euphoric day along the shores of Lake Erie and in so many living rooms in Northeast Ohio. It gave every Browns fan, whether they watched the game in person or on television, a tremendous memory to take with them.
Believe it or not, the Browns’ Kardiac Kids season of 1980 was like of slew of games just like the one on Sunday. One after the other they came, with 14 of the 17 games (counting the playoff contest against the then Oakland Raiders) not being decided until the final two minutes. It was a roller-coaster ride, with no deficit being too big for the Browns to overcome, and no lead being too big for them to squander.
It was the most thrilling season in team history. You had to see it to believe it, and even when you saw it, you’d scratch your head in wonder and ask, “Did that really just happen?“
Let’s hope there are more close games like that going forward this year for the Browns, and moreover, here’s hoping they win them.
