It’s not that I feel they have their guy. Feeling is using your heart and emotions to make a decision — subjectively. Thinking is using your brain to make a decision — objectively.
There’s a stark difference.
Certainly, we need a bigger sample size to be totally sure and eliminate the word “might” and replace it with “do.” But I have thought all along that he just might be the guy, and what he has done thus far has served only to strengthen that opinion.
Let’s look at this pragmatically and thoughtfully. Take all the names out of it. If the Browns had selected a quarterback in the NFL round, albeit in the fifth round, and he appeared to have the “it” factor and the leadership factor and he had string NFL genes and he tore up college football at the Division I level at a school that had not been even remotely relavent in 25 years, and then he turned in these statistics as a rookie:
*23-of-42 passing.
*364 yards.
*3 touchdowns and 1 interception.
*97.7 passer rating.
*3 rushes.
*29 yards.
*1 touchdown.
*In just his third start.
*In the bitter cold, snow and wind.
*While operating behind an old, injury-riddled, unproven offensive line.
*Without the benefit of a strong running game.
That’s what Sanders did on Sunday in a 31–29 loss to the Tennessee Titans.
So, then, what would you think?
No, not what would you feel, but what would you think?
