Cleveland Browns vs. Cincinnati Bengals

TEAM

  • The Browns have won consecutive season openers for the first time since 1993-94.
  • The Browns improved to 48-52 all-time against the Bengals with a 30-20 mark at home. Cleveland has won nine of their last 11 matchups with the Bengals, including the past six at home.
  • Since head coach Kevin Stefanski was hired in 2020, the Browns are 17-9 (.653) at Cleveland Browns Stadium. 
  • Kevin Stefanski improved to 3-1 in home openers as the Browns head coach and 7-3 in the month of September. 
  • The Browns limited the Bengals to 142 total net yards, the fewest allowed by a Browns team since allowing 47 to the Bears on Sept. 26, 2021. The six first downs allowed today were also the lowest since allowing six to the Bears on Sept. 26, 2021.

 

DE MYLES GARRETT

  • DE Myles Garrett recorded two tackles and one sack. This was Garrett’s seventh game in a row against the Bengals with at least one sack. He has 12 sacks in his career against Cincinnati, his most against any opponent. Garrett has recorded six games in a row against the division with a sack. Garrett is the Browns career sack leader with 75.5.


RB Nick Chubb rushed for 106 yards on 18 carries, while adding four receptions for 21 yards. Chubb (6,447) has the fourth-most rushing yards in franchise history:

Chubb recorded his 29th career game with 100 rushing yards, the second-most in team history. The Browns are 21-8 when he rushes for 100 yards.
  • QB Deshaun Watson threw for 154 yards with one touchdown, while adding 45 yards rushing with a 13-yard score. He has 19 career rushing touchdowns. He is 4-3 as a starter for the Browns.
  • TE David Njoku recorded two receptions for 24 yards. Njoku ranks fourth in club history for receptions (208) and receiving yards (2,407) by a tight end.
  • G Joel Bitonio started his 130th career game, including his 99th consecutive. His 130 total starts are the second-most by a Browns player since the team returned in 1999.

 

  • In his Browns debut, DE Ogbo Okoronkwo recorded three tackles and one sack. He has 10.5 career sacks.
  • TE Harrison Bryant recorded his eighth career receiving touchdown.
  • S Grant Delpit led the team with eight tackles.
  • T Jack Conklin sustained a knee injury and did not return.
