People keep going on and on and on about the roughing the passer penalty on Browns cornerback Greg Newsome that negated a Ronnie Hickman interception deep in New York Giants territory with the Browns already ahead 7-0 early in the first quarter of Sunday’s game.
They keep calling it a turning point in the game, and this, that and the other.
Let’s be very clear in saying that the play had absolutely nothing to do with the outcome of the game. The Browns would’ve lost anyway, and there was nothing could happen to change that.
The Browns came out not ready to play — they were disinterested — so, don’t use that play as a crutch. Even if they had gotten ahead 14-0, they still would’ve lost because, again, they weren’t ready to play.
Now, why were the Browns not ready to play? And why were they disinterested?
Ah, those are the big questions and, for that matter, really, the only questions.
