The old Browns, the Baltimore Ravens, did exactly the right thing in releasing kicker Justin Tucker on Monday.

If only the new Browns had used the same kind of thinking when it came to their problem child, quarterback Deshaun Watson.
Both have issues with massage parlors and sexual misconduct. You can’t have that on your football team, your company, your organization. It just doesn’t fly. It’s dead wrong on a variety of fronts.
The fact that Tucker has been the best kicker in the NFL for the past decade — by far, it isn’t even close — or that Watson was one of the top quarterbacks in football at one time, doesn’t matter and shouldn’t matter.
Tucker’s alleged improprieties came to light in January, and it took the Ravens only four months to sort through things and make the decision to get rid of him.
Good for them.
The Browns, knowing full well that there were all kinds of issues with Watson, still went out and traded three — yes, three — first-round NFL Draft picks for him a little over three years ago and then signed him to a fully-guaranteed $230 million contract. He remains on the roster.
It is the worst personnel move in pro football history since Watson has done absolutely nothing on the field for the Browns.
It is also the worst public relations and moralistic move in pro football history since his presence has sullied the reputation of the Browns and brought immense shame to the organization from top to bottom.
Ladies and gentlemen, it doesn’t get any worse than that.
