The Browns are bringing in name announcers to call their games on radio this season while Jim Donovan concentrates on his leukemia treatments, and this time it will be the great Paul Keels.
The popular longtime voice of Ohio State football and basketball will do Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals.
I couldn’t be happier. I love his style, and his deep, booming voice is even better. He could read the names out of the phone book — there, that will date me, right? — and I would sit and listen.
If we can’t listen to the iconic Donovan on Sunday, then I will gladly take Keels.
Just one more thing: Perhaps Keels will bring along his own color analyst from the Ohio State broadcasts, former Buckeyes offensive lineman Jim Lachey, so we don’t have to listen to the annoying, insufferable Nathan Zegura.
Just sayin’.
