Three opinions on three things:
*The Browns have interviewed Miami Dolphins quarterbacks coach and passing game specialist — whew!; that’s a long title — Darrell Bevell for their open offensive coordinator position. Oh, please don’t hire him. Pretty, pretty please. Anybody but him. This is the guy who, as offensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks, called for a pass at the New England 1 at the end of the Super Bowl following the 2014 season. The Seahawks had been running the ball down the Patriots’
throat on the entire drive. So, why pass?!!! The Pats intercepted and held on to win 28-24, keeping Seattle from capturing its second consecutive Super Bowl title. That may have been the dumbest call in NFL postseason history. The Browns can’t afford a recurrence of something like that.
*Browns Assistant General Manager Catherine Hickman has been interviewed by the Tennessee Titans for their general manager opening. If she does not get that job, then I would hope the Browns would consider promoting her to the GM job of their team. Goodness knows that the guy who currently has the job, Andrew Berry, has screwed it up royally. I’m sure she could do better.
*Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson has once again ruptured his Achilles tendon, putting his availability for the 2025 season in serious jeopardy. That means absolutely nothing, for if the Browns tried to trot Watson out there again next season, there would be a mutiny by the players, the assistant coaches and the fans. He can’t play. Period. What part of that do the Browns not understand?
