Not impressed with Watson workout

I am not the least bit impressed about — nor the least bit interested in — the belief that Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson was “impressive” the other day.

In a practice.

When, if any pass rusher got even as much as in the same time zone as Watson, he would have been banished from the team forever. Or longer.

I will not be impressed until Watson is “impressive” in the fourth quarter of a late-season road game in Pittsburgh, Cincinnati or Baltimore with an AFC North title on the line. On a consistent basis.

I will not be impressed until
Watson does something — anything — to remind me of Otto Graham, Frank Ryan, Bill Nelsen, Brian Sipe or Bernie Kosar. Or Don Strock.

I will B not be impressed until
Watson puts this team onto his back and plays his best in the biggest games wherever they fall on the schedule. Even in the middle.

I will not be impressed until
Watson is the reason the Browns get to the Super Bowl. And win it.

I will not be impressed until the elation over Watson’s play on the field is greater than the amount of disgust with his behavior off it.

So, then, until any or all of that happens, don’t waste my time writing about Deshaun Watson being “impressive” in a practice, especially when he is still two weeks away from playing in a game that counts for a team that has lost five of his last six games and is a miserable 3-6.

OK?
