So what else did you expect was going to happen on Sunday when the Browns hosted the Cincinnati Bengals at FirstEnergy Stadium?
Did you think that a bad, depleted team with a quarterback who was playing just his second game since the beginning of the 2015 season, was going to beat a Bengals club that, even with its own foibles this year, still has a lot of good players on both sides of the ball?
No, I didn’t, either, especially after the Bengals sprinted to a three-touchdown halftime lead, which is way none of us should blink an eye over the fact that the Browns fell 23-10.
What’s left to say after yet another beatdown is almost as scarce as the number of victories that the 0-13 Browns have.
Nonetheless, here are three quick takeaways:
*The Browns can’t expect to continue to dig themselves a quick, cavernous hole and expect to have any chance of winning. They played much better in the second half against Cincinnati, but by then, it was way too little, way too late.
*Let’s take another look at quarterback Robert Griffin III. Cody Kessler doesn’t seem to be the answer. Perhaps RG3 is – or at least he can be the bridge to the guy who is. It’s worth a shot. Again, what – other than more games – do the Browns have to lose?
*And finally, I’m glad that RG3 and wide receiver Terrelle Pryor got into it in the huddle in the second half. It shows that they still care – that they still have spunk — and on a team that’s going nowhere, that’s awfully hard to come by.
