NO SURPRISES AT ALL AS BROWNS FALL TO GIANTS

We already knew a lot of what was going to happen Sunday when the Browns entertained the New York Giants at FirstEnergy Stadium.

The Browns are young, inexperienced and going nowhere fast.

The veteran-laden Giants are headed to the playoffs.

So it’s no surprise, then, that New York (8-3) won 27-13 to drop Cleveland to 0-12.

We knew that, other than future Pro Football Hall of Fame left tackle Joe Thomas, wide receiver Terrelle Pryor is the best player on the Browns, as evidenced by his game-high six catches for 131 yards.

We knew that quarterback Josh McCown was going to play just well enough for the Browns to lose, as evidenced by the fact he passed for 322 yards and a touchdown while fumbling the ball away twice.

We knew the Browns would be careless with the football, as evidenced by the fact they had three turnovers – all on fumbles.

We knew that the terrible Browns offensive line would show its stripes, as evidenced by the fact it allowed McCown to be sacked even seven times.

We knew that the Browns would play hard, which they did, as evidenced by the fact they closed the gap to 20-13 on McCown’s 21-yard touchdown pass to rookie wideout Corey Coleman with 8:17 left.

We knew that the Browns would struggle in the red zone, as evidenced by the fact that two of their three scores were field goals, one of which came after they had a first down at the New York 6.

We knew that head coach Hue Jackson was going to pull out all the stops in order to give the Browns a chance to win, as evidenced by the fact he called for a crazy offensive formation that looked like something out of an Arena League game.

And we knew that it was not going to be enough.

Indeed, perhaps nothing is going to be enough to get the Browns a win, though, with a month of the season left, we don’t know that for sure yet.
