No excuses for the Browns

The stars are all aligned in just the right way, and the window of opportunity is wide open for the Browns.

The Browns have a top-flight quarterback in Deshaun Watson and their overall roster is stronger than it’s been in nearly 40 years, since the Bernie Kosar era, when the club went to the AFC Championship Game three times in four years.

Indeed, this team is loaded, as good as any in the AFC North and, for that matter, also in the whole conference. So, then, there can be no excuses if the Browns fail to deliver.

The regular-season opener on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns Stadium is winnable, and so is every other game on the schedule. And that includes the one the following week at Pittsburgh, which has long been a very difficult place for the Browns to win.

I fully expect Browns to deliver. There are going to be some bumps in the road, but in the AFC, that’s the way it’s going to be for every team. The conference is really talented.

It will be fun to watch play out.
