All-Brown Helmet, All-In on Rebuild — But Let’s Talk Results
The Browns made a big splash, in more ways than one, recently when they unveiled an all-brown helmet that will be worn with all-brown uniforms on special occasions this season.

A brown helmet?
With brown unis?
Yup.
OK.
Look, I’m not going to be the old, grumpy, “get-off-my-lawn” guy. I get it in that younger Browns fans, not necessarily those like me who watched the 1964 NFL Championship Game, want to see the shiny, new things that bedazzle in colors.
Have at it, everybody! Enjoy yourselves to the fullest!
In the spirit of compromise, I can be all-in with the all-brown look.
But at the same time, I’m not going to let all that color my opinion that while the uniform stuff is important with the fun it adds to the sport, what is also important — much, much, much so, in fact, in the big picture — is winning games, playoff games and that really big game at the end of the whole season.
Uh, just call it winning, overall. That’s easier to say.
However you want to couch it, can we just focus a little bit on that?
Can we get out of last place in the AFC North?
Can we keep the number of losses in single digits?
I know that’s a low bar, but you have to start somewhere, right?
And while we’re on this subject, we realize the team is in a total rebuild and agree that that is the way it should be, with young players getting a big chance to play and that taking precedence over scoreboard success, what number of wins is too few, and what amount of playing time for those youngsters is too little, to suit owner Jimmy Haslam’s taste? And how long should this rebuild take?
I’d like him to be more specific about all that sometime before the start of the regular season so we know the parameters in which the Browns will be operating.
