New England Hires Mike Vrabel as Head Coach

If I were the Browns, I would’ve thought long and hard about hiring Mike Vrabel as head coach.

Vrabel served as a consultant last season for the Browns, and not long after his contract was up with the team, he ended up getting hired by the team he coachEd for and played for, the New England Patriots.

That is the Browns’ loss and the Patriots’ gain.

Vrabel is a tough, no-nonsense guy, and I think the Browns need that kind of coach and leader. They are tremendously undisciplined, and have been for a while. They make a lot of dumb mistakes.

I just don’t understand the satisfaction with current head coach Kevin Stefanski. In his five seasons, the Browns have made the playoffs only twice. They are 1-2 in playoff games futibg that time, and last year when they made the playoffs, they got blown out 45–14 by the Houston Texans in their first game.

So, then, the Browns haven’t won a playoff game since 2020. That’s inexcusable and unacceptable.

It’s rumored that Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin might come under some scrutiny in the offseason. The Steelers make the playoffs every year, but can’t win. However, the fact that they’re in the dance puts them ahead of the Browns.

We’ll see how this all shakes out, but I am already leery of the 2025 season. It looks bleak to me, at least at this time, and I don’t know if I trust in Stefsnski and his buddy, General Manager Andrew Berry to do anything to make it look brighter.

I will say this right now, that if Stefanski is let go at the end of the 2025 season, the first person I would talk to is defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz. His group is the lone bright spot to come out of this season. The defense probably didn’t play as well as it did in 2023, but almost every Sunday, it played well enough for the team to win. It did its part.
