Much different than 2023

What a difference a year makes!

Last season at jthis time, the Browns were 4-3 and ready to begin a three-game winning streak in which they whitewashed the Arizona Cardinals 27-0 and edged past two AFC North rivals in the Baltimore Ravens 33–31 and the Pittsburgh Steelers 13-10. It started a streak in which the Browns won six of eight games on the way to finishing 11–6.

The catalyst was quarterback Joe Flacco, who came out of nowhere to play at a Pro Bowl level as the team got past a slew of injuries at the position and made it to the postseason for the first time since 2020.

Now the Browns are 1-5 and going absolutely nowhere. I take that back in that they are going somewhere — downhill like a runaway pace. The quarterback situation is screwed up again, but there’s no Joe Flacco to come in and save the day because they foolishly allowed him to depart in free agency in the offseason.

The Browns have lost five in a row, and not only have they suffered those of each, but they given the fans boring football because they’ve been unable to score points.

It’s just a mess — a  big mess, in fact — and again, it’s laid at the feet of the top people in the organization. They have screwed up royally. The fans are left with a half-season of football that they have to suffer through instead of enjoying.

Yikes!!!
