Merry Christmas, Cleveland

By STEVE KING

It’s Christmas Day, so it’s time to take the day off from the Browns and football.

After all, there are a whole lot more important things to think about on this day.

And anyway, thinking about the Browns is just going to make you sad, angry, disappointed, frustrated and miserable. Who wants to feel like that?

Focus on the holiday.

Focus on your family.

Focus on your friends.

Focus on your blessings.

Focus on fun.

Focus on gifts, the ones you can touch and the ones you can’t.

Focus on that big meal awaiting you.

Focus on relaxing.

Focus on hearing.

Focus on listening.

Focus on caring.

Focus on kindness.

Focus on patience. Yeah, focus on that one a lot, for on a day like this, things can get pretty loud and crazy.

Focus on smiling.

Focus on laughing. Yes, focus on that one a lot, too.

Focus on introspection.

Focus on your faith, whatever that faith may be, if you are so inclined.

Focus on the snow, or, as it were, the lack thereof in many areas.

Focus on talking when it’s something positive that you have to say.

Focus on keeping quiet otherwise, for, as former Browns head coach Sam Rutigliano always tells me, “Anytime you have the opportunity to say absolutely nothing, take full advantage of it.

Focus on not sweating the small stuff.

Focus on the big-picture stuff instead.

Focus on being selfless.

Focus on being your best self.

Focus on the gift of another day, and another chance to get it right.

Focus on doing the next right thing, whatever it is, whenever it is, wherever it is and however long it takes you.

Focus on joy, for, like kindness, the world needs all of that it can get.

Focus on focusing on how lucky you are.

Spend the whole day on doing this, for tomorrow, we’ll be back focusing on the Browns and all of their issues, and that won’t be a good time.
